How to Pack Like a Pro: Efficient Travel Packing Tips

Vacations are always an exciting thing to look forward to. After all, you’ll be able to get away and leave all your worries behind, even if it’s just for a little while. It’s not without its downsides, though, and one thing many people can agree is the worst part of vacationing is packing up for it. It can be stressful to think about what you should pack, how to cram everything in your bag, and minimizing your load. Here are some tips to help you with your travel packing.

Roll your outfits together.

Did you know that rolling your clothes takes up less space than folding them? Doing so can help you make efficient use of your suitcase space. Take it a step further and plan your outfits in advance by rolling your pants, shirt, underwear, and socks together to create an outfit. Now you won’t need to make a mess out of your suitcase by digging through all your clothes after a shower. Instead, you can simply take one of your outfit bundles and save some time getting ready.

Plan on doing laundry.

Unless your trip is short enough to go without it, you will have to do laundry on your vacation. Having the option to do laundry will grant you the freedom to pack even lighter. If you don’t want to deal with the hassle, you can look up your hotel and see if they offer laundry services. You can also check if your location is near any laundromats.

If there are no other alternatives, however, you can also hand wash your dirty clothing in the hotel sink. Note, however, that while this could be effective for smaller pieces of clothing such as underwear, hosiery, and lighter tops, it could be more challenging for clothes such as pants or jackets.

Bring multipurpose shoes.

Shoes take up a lot of space in the suitcase, so choose which ones to bring wisely. The best number of shoes to bring is about two to three pairs. Are your running shoes strong enough to handle running and hiking? Can your flats handle a day out shopping, yet also be presentable enough for a dinner at a fancy restaurant? All the while, avoid shoes with components that take up more space, such as knee-length boots or high heels.

Bring a medical kit.

There’s nothing worse than being in the middle of an emergency, only to discover you do not have the supplies to address it. A lot can happen in a vacation, and you need to ensure you’re prepared, just in case. When preparing a medical kit, ensure that you include bandages, gauze, antiseptic solution, painkillers and other over-the-counter medicine, hydrogen peroxide for disinfection, and any prescribed medicines that you or your travel mates need. Feel free to add more supplies as you see fit, as these are only the bare essentials.

Bring an extra bag for souvenirs.

Chances are that you’ll be coming home with more things than you brought with you. You can be prepared for this by having a bag that’s meant to keep your souvenirs. After all, it’d be better to bring a separate bag rather than cram your souvenirs in your already-full suitcase. A foldable tote bag won’t take up too much space, making it ideal to bring with you as your souvenir bag.

We hope that these tips can help you with one of the most challenging parts of vacationing, so that you can enjoy the rest of your trip to the fullest!
